Camera Angles and Doors

From what I have seen throughout "The Godfather" is that the camera angles are very unique and they are symbolic also. It seems as if the door is symbolic because it seems as if when the camera angles are outside its more joyous and nice, but when its inside it is more mafia work. For example, when there were shots of the party then the whole family was happy and the environment is nice and then when ever the mafia or family is inside then it is more like lets get down to business.

The door can be symbolic as a barrier. When the scenes are shot outside then it is seemed to be more calm and nice. When the shots are taken inside then it is time for the mafia to go to work or it is time to get down to business.

The camera angles are unique because they make you feel as if you are a part of the scene. There was a scene where the horse head was on the bed. In that scene the camera backed away as soon as it saw the head. That made you feel as if the camera got scared; the director makes you feel as if you are a part of the scene and you are a part of the family or mafia.

  1. I agree with you on both of your ideas.
I never thought that camera angles can do such a important role in the movie, but "The Godfather" totally changed my thought. Different kind of shots had showed different kind of effects and it helped audiences' understanding. The one of the example was the pan shot, which had created intense suspense in the scene and assisted audiences to concentrate on the movie.
For the better understanding, I think we should pay more attention for the shots.

For the door, I said it could be symbolic to the transition between mafia's life and the normal life. You stated that the door can be symbolic as a barrier, but i think we have the said idea.
